Data agency Strategy Analytics published a report announcing the revenue rankings of the global smartphone application processor market in the first quarter of 2022. Compared to the same period last year, revenue in the first quarter of this year rose 35% to 8.9 billion dollar , with Qualcomm, MediaTek and Apple ranking in the top three, and Huawei Kirin chips accounting for an unpromising share.

Qualcomm was the most profitable brand with a substantial 44.6% revenue share ahead of other brands,its revenue is close to the sum of the second and third places combined.MediaTek is in the second place with a revenue share of 24.7%, slightly ahead of the third place Apple with 21.9%.Thees top three brands market total share account for as high as 91.2%.

Samsung ranked fourth, UNISOC ranked fifth and Huawei Kirin chip is almost negligible due to Huawei's inability to find a foundry, they are adding up to a total market share of just 8.8%.

All of these chip companies have a common foundry, TSMC, behind them. With Samsung's lack of competitiveness, TSMC has taken 80% of the market share. No matter which brand is popular in the market, the ultimate behind-the-scenes winner is only TSMC.

As of now, the world's best-selling processors are the following: Dimensity 700, Snapdragon 778G, Snapdragon 8Gen1, Dimensity 810, Dimensity 900, Snapdragon 888, Snapdragon 888Plus and other 5G chips.
