The amount of global smartphone shipments in 2022 is 1.21 billion, it is the lowest annual shipments since 2013, due to a sharp drop in consumer demand and economic uncertainty.

In terms of annual performance, Samsung still maintained the first place in shipments, with a total market share of 21.6%; Apple ranked second, with a share of 18.8%; Xiaomi was third, with a market share of 12.7%. OPPO is fourth with a market share of 8.6%; Vivo is fifth with a share of 8.2%.

Samsung surpassed Apple in shipments for all of last year, reaching 260.9 million units compared to Apple's 226.4 million. In percentage terms,these both two manufacturers saw annual shipment declines that were greater than the industry average, falling 4.1 percent and 4 percent, respectively.

With shipments of 153.1 million units, Xiaomi once again won the third place in the world, with a global market share of 12.7%. Unlike the top two, Xiaomi’s shipments and market share both fell significantly: shipments fell from 191 million units to 153.1 million units, and market share fell from 14% to 12.7%, a year-on-year decline of 19.8%.

In fourth place is OPPO mobile phones, with annual shipments of 103.3 million units and a market share that fell from 9.8% to 8.6%. Although the ranking remained unchanged, shipments also fell from 133.6 million units to 103.3 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 22.7%.

In fifth place is vivo, which shipped 99 million units a year and saw its market share drop from 9.4% to 8.2%. Compared with the shipment of 128.3 million units in 2021, vivo fell by as much as 22.8% year-on-year.

It is understood that Samsung's shipment target in 2023 is about 270 million units, Apple's shipment target is about 240 million units, Xiaomi's shipment target is about 140 million units, OPPO's shipment target is about 150 million units, and Vivo's shipment target is about 9,000 million units.
