First period:2007-2011,Apple Camera began to improve

During this period, Apple did not increase the pixels of the camera, but greatly improved the peripheral functions of the camera. For example, in 2012, the sapphire lens was used. In 2013, the Ture Tone LED dual-color flash and 720p 120fps slow motion was added to the camera. In 2014, Optical image stabilization was added to the iPhone 6 Plus.

Third period:2015-Present,4K+Dual Camera

From 2015 to the present, Apple seems to have been slower in the development of cameras than before. In 2015, the resolution was increased to 12 million pixels, giving Apple the ability to shoot 4K video, and in 2016, Apple also added dual cameras to the iPhone 7 Plus. To be honest, although Apple has upgraded a lot of shooting functions, such as increasing the shooting rate of video, in fact in terms of camera parameters, Apple mobile phones have not been the best of their time.
